Though not often celebrated as a holiday destination, a visit to Germany can be an enriching experience. Offering historic values such as a visit to the Berlin Wall, its significance and its subsequent removal and the effect on the German people, Germany is a place the whole family can enjoy.
The main cities of Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt and Hamburg are well known worldwide and are beginning to attract more visitors annually. Berlin for instance besides having the Berlin Wall also has the Jewish Museum and the Perganon Ancient History Museum. As the capital city Berlin is about one third composed of lakes, rivers, forests, parks and gardens. A visit to Berlin would offer travelers a glimpse into World War II history with places like the Memorial Church offering genuine artifacts. Of course it is not all about the World War as there are other attractions such as the Wintergarten Variete which has a world famous cabaret show and the National Gallery which has art dating back from the 18th century to the 20th.
Munich too has so much to offer visitors in the way of the BMW factory museum which is a must visit for the car fanatic, while history buffs can enjoy the Church of Our Lady, a 15th century dome towered cathedral, while St. Peter's Church is also worth a visit. Munich is the third largest city following Berlin and Hamburg and it lies on the northern edge of the Alps and has the rivers Isar and Wurm. Located on an island in the river Isar is the German Museum, while Munich also has the National theatre.
The fifth largest city in Germany Frankfurt is located on an ancient ford on the river Main. It is Germany's financial centre and has been as such for centuries and houses major banks and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. However, it is not all about finance and so the traveler need not fear as Frankfurt also has the Senckenberg National History Museum, the Frankfurt Zoo, the German Architecture Museum and the Frankfurt Historical Museum. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's home which is now a museum is also in Munich.
A holiday in Germany is bound to be a unique experience, very different to a holiday in Spain or other popular tourist destinations. It is in Europe but has not quite achieved the romantic appeal of the other European countries. This however should not deter a potential visitor to Germany as its appeal is obvisou considering all that Germany has to offer. With cultural experiences such as the Oktoberfest or a visit to Black Forest which produces Cuckoo clocks Germany has many adventures to offer her visitors. The total experience is sure to be one filled with surprises as the scenery of the German countryside has guests clicking away on their cameras trying to snap it all up.
I have been to Germany only once. I was on tourney with my black metal band. Unfortunately this was my dank period of time, so I do not remember a lot after the concert. Probably I need to arrange vacation there with my family.
